The purpose of the \u201csmart home\u201d is to provide the user with comfort, convenience, entertainment and security, improving their quality of life, and also to contribute to the energy saving that is essential today, given the visible problems of environmental pollution, climate change and the continuing depletion of natural resources.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Program Purpose<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On completing the programme, participants will have acquired the skills and abilities required for facility management and maintenance, and will understand the digital data communications so widely used today, how telecommunication and computer networks work, and their applications in smart home technology and building management systems.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Learning results<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On completing the programme, trainees will be able to understand data processing, recognise the building blocks of computers and networks, and understand how resources are shared and how information is exchanged and communicated in an information system. They will know the process of designing and developing application software and the operating principles of Operating Systems. They will be able to assemble a personal computer and install a network using the appropriate equipment. In addition, they will know how to organise a computer systems maintenance workshop and deal effectively with any software or hardware problem. Finally, they will have the knowledge needed to propose complete networking solutions, from a home to a small business.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Units<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Unit 1 &#8211; Introductory Basic Knowledge <\/p>\n<p>On completing this unit, participants will know the concept of facility management, the duties and responsibilities of the facility manager, and the wide range of operations and support services it includes.<br \/>\nAsynchronous Learning<br \/>\nTraining duration (hours): 21<\/p>\n<p> Unit 2 &#8211; Principles of Communication Networks <\/p>\n<p>The aim of this unit is to provide an overview of digital data communications. It describes the historical development of telecommunications and of technologies, networks and communications. Participants are also introduced to local area networks and the networking of smart devices.<\/p>\n<p>In-person Learning<br \/>\nTraining duration (hours): 52<\/p>\n<p> Unit 3 &#8211; Smart Home Technologies for Energy Saving <\/p>\n<p>The need for energy management in buildings and industry is a top priority, with obvious financial and environmental benefits. The aim of this teaching unit is to describe smart homes, which also aim to save energy, and their functions, as well as home and building automation. Examples of smart home control automation are mentioned, and the protocols of building automation systems are named.<\/p>\n<p>Synchronous Learning<br \/>\nTraining duration (hours): 51<\/p>\n<p> Unit 4 &#8211; Introduction to the Smart Applications System (BUS) &#8211; Introduction to the Building Management System (BMS) <\/p>\n<p>The aim of this unit is to present the structure of smart applications (BUS) and control functions, and to describe the building management system (BMS). The unit also covers the Building Energy Management System (BEMS). The main characteristics, functions and benefits of these systems are set out.<\/p>\n<p>In-person Learning<br \/>\nDuration of training hours: 20<\/p>\n<p> Unit 5 &#8211; Introduction to Smart Electrical Installations &#8211; Topology in the KNX TP1 Technique &#8211; Basic Materials for Smart Electrical Installations <\/p>\n<p>The aims of this unit include presenting smart electrical installations and their applications. The difference between the open and closed techniques with which smart installations can be created is explained. In this way, participants will be able to recognise the main features of the capabilities and solutions offered by the various companies. Participants will also know the basic materials and devices that make up a KNX TP1 smart installation and the communication interconnection of these components, the rules governing it, and the capabilities offered by a KNX smart installation.<\/p>\n<p>Synchronous Learning<br \/>\nDuration (training hours): 33<\/p>\n<p> Unit 6 &#8211; Programming and Practical Applications with ETS4 <\/p>\n<p>The aim of this unit is to present the capabilities and use of the ETS4 software and the ways of making the most of it.<\/p>\n<p>Asynchronous Learning<br \/>\nDuration of training hours: 20<\/p>\n<p> Unit 7 &#8211; Support for Computers and Network Infrastructure <\/p>\n<p>In this unit, trainees will learn to recognise and identify problems that arise at the level of computer system and network hardware, software and, in particular, the operating system. They will learn to recognise the risks that threaten the computer system and the mechanisms for dealing with them; to know what viruses are and how the operating system can be protected from them (prevention); to describe how a firewall works and be able to configure it; and to make backups and restore them.<\/p>\n<p>Asynchronous Learning<br \/>\nTraining duration (hours): 11<\/p>\n<p> Unit 8 &#8211; Technical Specifications of Hardware and Software <\/p>\n<p>The aim of the unit is for trainees to acquire full knowledge of the technical issues and specifications of computer system hardware, whether personal\/desktop or portable systems; to know the basic functions and specifications of peripheral devices; and to know the characteristics and specifications of computer software, popular networking devices and the tools needed to build networks.<\/p>\n<p>In-person Learning<br \/>\nTraining duration (hours): 11<\/p>\n<h3>Duration of the program<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li> Lifetime
