The new OAED programs for 67,000 jobs

It is a series of OAED programs that concern training, community service, positions in public institutions and a subsidy for a new business activity.

More specifically, it is about:

  1. The new second business opportunity program concerns 5,000 unemployed former self-employed people who closed their businesses during the economic crisis and who will be given a grant to start a new business activity alone or together with others. The duration of the grant is set at twelve months. After the end of the twelve months, the beneficiaries undertake to maintain their businesses for another three months. At the same time, it is possible to extend the grant period for twelve additional months. The grant amount is defined as follows:
    • up to 12,000 euros for individual entrepreneurs/entrepreneurs (sole proprietorships) and members of legal entities with a participation rate in the company capital of at least 51% (and up to 8,000 euros for the 12 months of program extension)
    • up to 9,000 euros/per member of legal entities, participating in the total corporate capital by 1/2, each (and up to 5,000 euros for the 12 months of extension of the program)
    • up to 8,000 euros/per member of legal entities, which participate in the total corporate capital by 1/3, each (and up to 4,000 euros for the 12 months of extension of the program). Those who have not yet proceeded to settlement of their debts with EFKA. There will be an offset up to 25% of the amount of the grant, which will be given directly by OAED to EFKA, to cover the debts. So they will have no problem for insurance and tax awareness.
  2. The community service program that concerns the hiring of 8,933 unemployed people in full-time positions in 51 municipalities, 5 regions and in Welfare Centers of the country. Applications for this program will begin next week. The action aims, on the one hand, to directly address the unemployment of population groups that are most affected by unemployment and, on the other hand, to upgrade the qualifications of the participants, with training and the provision of consulting services. The right to participate is those registered in the OAED register of unemployed who belong to families in which no member works or who are unemployed who are members of single-parent families where no one also works, or who are long-term unemployed, or who are unemployed university/tei graduates, or belong to the category of the disabled, or are unemployed over the age of 29, or are beneficiaries of Social Income
  3. The Program for young graduates with a positive, technological, economic direction for 3,000 unemployed people aged 24-29. It concerns the training of unemployed graduates of related subjects in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), with an emphasis on specialties related to software development. The aim is to take a substantial step in the direction of digital upgrading and the productive transformation of the economy. The budget of the program amounts to 40.2 million Euros.
  4. The program concerning "Professional empowerment intervention for 10,000 unemployed people aged 18-29", graduates of Secondary and Tertiary Education. Investment in human resources is envisaged in leading sectors of the Greek economy, which show significant performance, in extroversion and growth prospects and strengthening of the sectoral interconnection of the Greek economy - bridges between critical sectors such as tourism and agri-food
  5. The program "Targeted Training and certification of 3,000 unemployed theoretical studies in leading branches". The action has as its target group unemployed graduates of Theoretical Studies schools up to 29 years old. It creates new professional outlets for unemployed graduates of theoretical subjects. Indicative specialties include the management of social networks, the marketing of cultural organizations, the administration of cultural organizations, counseling for the elderly and dealing with learning difficulties.
  6. The program to promote young entrepreneurship and support young people up to 29 years of age, who will be able to submit their business ideas. 5,000 unemployed people will benefit and 2,500 business plans will be strengthened." The amount of the aid can reach up to 18,000 euros.
  7. Second round of the special employment program for 3,000 unemployed graduates of higher educational and technological institutions, aged 22-29, in Ministries and supervised public bodies. In particular, after the recruitment of 5,500 of the first phase, there will be a second phase of the program.
  8. Special pilot program to combat unemployment for 550 young people in Western Macedonia. The beneficiaries will be employed as a "pre-work" for 7 months in the private sector. Of these, 250 young scientists will work in a project of the Region of Western Macedonia. The total employment has a duration of 18 months and the remuneration is determined at 650 euros.
  9. Eight new training programs for 29,580 beneficiaries.
