The basics

What the programme is

To work as security staff, you need a work licence. You get it with the certificate of competence from the EOPPEP and KEMEA exams — and the exams are open to anyone who has completed the “Basic Training Programme for Private Security Personnel”, lasting 105 hours.

This is the programme on this page: online, with live classes from your computer. With the licence you can work for private security companies:

Static guarding

buildings, offices and facilities

Patrols & cash-in-transit

patrols of areas and facilities, transport of cash and valuables

Shops & events

guarding of shops, venues and events

Requirements

Who can get the licence

To sit the certification exams you need, among other things:

  • to be at least 18 years old
  • Greek citizenship (or Greek descent) or citizenship of an EU member state
  • a secondary education qualification or higher
  • a certificate that you completed the 105-hour programme

Please note: the exact supporting documents are set out in each exam announcement. As soon as a new exam period is announced, we will let you know.

Not sure whether you meet the requirements? Call us on 24210 30535 — we will check it together.

The syllabus

What you will learn

  • Private security: working environment, international trends and the situation in Greece
  • Criminal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and special criminal laws
  • Introduction to security and the profile of private security personnel
  • Incident response
  • Facility security and personal protection
  • Equipment, means and methods of protection for security personnel
  • Fire safety and dealing with technological accidents
  • First aid

By the end you will be able to take part in preventing and controlling illegal acts, to monitor and patrol premises, to act correctly in emergencies and accidents, and to know your basic rights and obligations under civil and criminal law.
