The basics

What the programme is

Private security staff working in ports and port facilities need, in addition to the security work licence, specific training in port security in line with the International ISPS Code.

The 24-hour programme covers this training. It is aimed at private security professionals who work, or want to work, guarding ports and port facilities, and at security companies that take on such contracts.

What the law requires

Requirements for working at a port

Under the ministerial decision published in Government Gazette B’ 1877/12.09.2008, private security company staff assigned to a port facility must:

  • hold the work licence under Article 3 of Law 2518/1997
  • have been trained — or demonstrably be trained — by a recognised training centre before taking up duty, in line with paragraph 18.2 of Part B of the ISPS Code

Don’t have a security licence yet? Start with the basic 105-hour Security programme.
