KEK KEPETH runs Vocational Training Programmes in to the the Operation of Forklift Trucks – (forklifts) (specialty 2), with Recognised Certification for the Region and the Ministry of Development. (Government Gazette (FEK) B 3350 – 12/6/2024).The programme is aimed at anyone wishing to obtain a licence to work professionally operating construction machinery (FORKLIFTS) with a total engine power of more than ten (10) kW and a maximum lifting capacity of up to two thousand five hundred (2,500) kg with no previous licence required.
- 12 hours of theoretical training(in-person training)
- 60 hours of practical training(in-person training)
- Certification exams, to obtain a licence to operate machinery
Theoretical training takes place at the KEK KEPETH premises. Practical training takes place at suitable premises of a business that has forklifts, including public or wider public sector bodies, or in a controlled workshop environment. The certification exams cover both the theoretical and the practical part.
Applicants must meet at least the following requirements:
- Have completed compulsory education in Greece or an equivalent level abroad
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold at least a category B driving licence
- Photocopy of ID card or passport (for non-EU citizens, also a residence or work permit)
- Certified copy of educational qualification
- Photocopy of driving licence, at least category B
- health certificate from a public health provider covering physical fitness (from a pathologist, orthopaedist or general practitioner), hearing (from an ENT specialist) and vision (from an ophthalmologist)
- solemn declaration under Article 8 of Law 1599/1983 stating: a) that the supporting documents / information submitted are accurate and true, b) their Region, i.e. the Region corresponding to the address of their business premises or permanent residence.

After completing the training, participants must take exams. If they pass both the theoretical and the practical exam, they can obtain an operator licence for forklift trucks (construction machinery) classified under “specialty 2”.
The final assessment of the learning outcomes of the theoretical part is written. The assessment of the learning outcomes of the theoretical part is successful if at least 80%of the questions are answered correctly.
Theoretical assessment format: A single test of sixty (60) closed questions (i.e. yes/no, true/false, multiple choice). The closed questions are selected and grouped by unit and, by level of difficulty, into three (3) categories: 25% easy, 50% medium and 25% difficult.
The final assessment of the learning outcomes of the practical part is by demonstration exercisesin two stages:
The first stage lasts up to 10 minutes and aims to verify the candidate's ability through simulated operation of the machine.
The second stage of the practical assessment, lasting at least 20 minutes, aims to verify the candidate's ability to operate the machine in real driving conditions, i.e. travelling to the work area, loading/unloading/stacking material, and stopping and parking the machine.
