What the programme is
Practical specialisation for engineers who want to work as Energy Inspectors: carrying out energy inspections and issuing Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) for buildings, or inspections of heating and air-conditioning systems.
Training is delivered online, with live classes and many practical exercises in the TEE-KENAK software. There are three self-contained programmes:
Building inspector

Who it is for
Who it is for
- Graduate engineers who are members of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE)
- Technological education engineering graduates in specialisations with the right to sign an Energy Performance Study
- Engineers with recognised professional qualifications in Greece
Is it required for registration in the Register? No. Registration in the Register of Energy Inspectors of the Ministry of Environment and Energy is done online at buildingcert.gr and does not require a training programme or exams. Since 2025 (Government Gazette B’ 1228/12.03.2025), inspectors in each category are classified as Class A or Class B. The training gives you the practical knowledge to carry out inspections and EPCs correctly from day one.
The syllabus
What you will learn — buildings programme
10 lessons of 4 hours:

Legal framework
EU directives and Greek legislation, nearly zero-energy buildings, the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulation (KENAK), energy study and inspection, T.O.T.E.E. 20701

Thermal insulation of the building envelope
heat transfer, insulation materials, thermal transmittance coefficients, windows and doors, thermal bridges, moisture and condensation

Building and mechanical/electrical interventions
heating, cooling, mechanical ventilation, domestic hot water, lighting, building automation systems (BEMS), renewables and cogeneration

Energy inspection protocol
methodology, buildingcert.gr, data collection during the site visit

calculations and final submission to the Ministry’s platform

Practical exercises

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
Building inspector €200; heating or air-conditioning systems inspector €120 each.
Is it mandatory in order to become an energy inspector?
No — registration in the Register requires no training or exams. It is a specialisation so that you start out ready for real work.
Can I attend just one of the three?
Yes, each programme is self-contained and has its own cost.
Can I attend from home?
Yes. Classes are held live online, usually in the afternoon, and the rest of the study is on an e-learning platform.
