Self-Employed Lawyers Grant

The Action concerns the support in the form of a grant for self-employed lawyers who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic due to the non-physical functioning of the courts.

The aim of the Action is to upgrade the digital infrastructure of law offices so that lawyers can provide their services via video conference, but also to utilize modern technological tools in the process of dispensing Justice, in the country's courts and prisons.

Action Budget

THE budget of the Action is 20 million euros for all regions of the country.

The Action is co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) of the European Union and by national resources.

Applications and Subsidy

Each beneficiary (distinct VAT number) will be awarded a one-time maximum total grant for the digital upgrade of their offices as follows:

  • A grant of 2,000 euros

0 =< Income 1/1/2019 – 31/12/2019 =< 20,000 euros 

  • Grant of 1,500 euros

20,000 < Income 1/1/2019 – 31/12/2019 =< 40,000 euros

  • A grant of 1,000 euros         

40,000 < Income 1/1/2019 – 31/12/2019 =< 60,000 euros        

  • Grant of 500 euros

60,000 < Income 1/1/2019 – 31/12/2019      

Beneficiaries who started within 2020 may apply and receive a maximum grant amount of 1,500 euros.  

Beneficiaries of the Action

Self-employed lawyers, as natural persons, registered with the bar association, operating legally in the country and having started at the competent DOU until 31/12/2020.

It is pointed out that legal entities of all kinds are excluded.

Basic Conditions of Participation

Beneficiaries must, among other things, satisfy the following conditions:

  • Beneficiaries should, among others, satisfy the following conditions:
  • Have as their main Activity Code (KAD) one of the eligible KADs of chapter 6: "ELIGIBLE FIELDS OF ACTIVITY",
  • To be established by 31/12/2020
  • To have a professional seat and a license to practice the profession of lawyer, before the publication of the Invitation.
  • To keep simple or double written books of Law 4308/2014
  • To submit one financing application per VAT number.

Subsidized Expenses

With the aim of digitally modernizing the offices of self-employed lawyers, they are subsidized exclusively the following equipment supply costs:

  • PC
  • laptops
  • routers
  • web cameras
  • microphones
  • headphones
  • speakers
  • video conferencing systems
  • scanners/multimachines
  • video conferencing/projection screens

Eligible are the costs of acquiring fixed assets for which the cost of acquiring each distinct piece of equipment is not greater than 1,500 euros and up to the grant limits.

Indicative are not eligible the supplies for: mobile phones, tablets, mobile phone connections, servers, all kinds of software (in addition to the necessary software for the basic operation of PCs and laptops), subscriptions to databases.

As start date of expenditure eligibility is set as June 1, 2021. The deadline for the completion of the projects cannot exceed 3 months from the date of issuance of the Inclusion Decision, while the completion of the investment cannot in any case exceed the end of 2021.
